around the farm

We are having the most glorious spring here! Blessed with much needed rain and some cooler temperatures of late. Everywhere I look, there is lush, green, beauty. The ponds are filled to the brim. There are puddles on the driveway perfect for splashing about. Growing, growing - The turkeys, my belly, the potatoes! (Heaven help me, I might just have the rest of the garden put in before this baby comes out, and have more to eat from than only potatoes and garlic). Soon we'll have a freezer full of homegrown chicken. The hens are laying so many eggs that I can't keep up with them; such a fortunate problem to have. The rhubarb is ready for harvest, and I have grand plans for jam and rhubarb meringue pie this weekend. Tomorrow we go see a couple about a milking goat!

  1. My rhubarb is going to town. C's babysitter came over and picked over half of it, which is good. It thinned it out quite nicely. I made strawberry rhubarb syrup (because we eat lots of pancakes here) and then usd the discarded fruit to make a pie. Love this time of year!
