making candles from beeswax

For tomorrow's Candlemas blessing. These are my first hand-dipped (not pretty, but I'm getting better!) and molded ones.

  1. They look great. Do they give out much light when they burn?

    1. Hi Kev, Yes, I think about the same as any candle. They burn a whole lot longer though!

  2. I would love to try this sometime, they look beautiful, Jaime! (I bet they smell divine, too!). I think I read somewhere that burning beeswax candles clears/cleans the air?

    1. Thanks, Christine! Yes, I've read that, too. They are very clean burning candles. I've been staying up way too late making them - so addictive :)

  5. I have to show my ignorance here and admit I had to Google "Candlemas" to find out what it was. My first thought was that it must be an American celebration, not celebrated in Australia. How embarrassed was I to find out it is a Christian celebration. My excuse for not knowing is that my religious upbringing was in the Presbyterian church, and they weren't big on celebrating much more than Christmas and Easter.

Regardless, though, your candles look great! In a way, it will be a pity to burn them...'cause then they are gone.

  10. I an almost smell the beeswax from here! And what a lovely, deep honey color. I have said it before and I'll say it again (now, apparently): calm just overtakes me when I visit your little home here, Jaime. Thank you for sharing your sweet life with us.
