whipped honey butter
Sweet butter is our new favorite thing. I make butter like I usually do (minus the salt), and then add 4 Tablespoons of honey and whip it for about 10 seconds in the food processor. So Good. I've found that a 1 to 3 ratio of honey to butter is just right for us - so, for 1 Cup of butter, add 1/3 Cup of honey. You can also substitute agave syrup for the honey, making your butter authentically Southwestern.
I was feeling fancy with this last batch, and made some into little balls using two small measuring spoons.
There is arguably nothing better than fresh, sweet butter on just-out-of-the-oven homemade bread. Everyone should try it at least once in her life, and I'm certain the world would be an even better place.

Hi Jaime, thanks for your lovely comment. I was admiring your butter making skills and today I have made my first batch of butter. Thank goodness I found you and your food processor otherwise I think I would have failed. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, good! The food processor does make short work of it, doesn't it?
DeleteJaime, thank you for the idea. My daughter is in a book club and they are reading a book about a colonial girl. She and I made colonial brown bread, and we used your idea for honey butter to make some homemade butter (the buttermilk went into the bread batter) and added honey and a bit of salt. Everybody swooned, it was so good! Thanks again for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYUMMMMY. I remember when my mother would make homemade bread. nothing better. We have a glutard (my funny name for gluten free person) living here so I don't spend much time making bread. Maybe I should though.. when we are having wheat loving people for dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteMmm...looks so good!
ReplyDeleteI've recently come across your blog and was excited to see this post on whipped butter - I haven't seen or heard of whipped butter since I spent a year studying in Vancouver, Canada and I loved the stuff. Looking forward to trying to make my own, thanks so much xXx
