goings on

I've been getting in some much needed rest and house-ordering before we gear up for a busy spring!

:Experimenting with these cheese rolls

:Planting ginger in a big pot following this guide, discovered here)

:Noticing Aki napping in the cold breeze and warm sunshine (and taking note that I really should clean the windows)

:Admiring our neighbor's llama, who watches over our chickens

:Trying not to spook the family of ducks in our pond when I take their picture (no luck yet)

:Making the bed every day (even if it's not until 3 in the afternoon!)

How are your days, friends?

  7. Oh, I hope you let us know how your ginger experiment works out. I've read about that method before but haven't gotten around to doing it... I love your little pond!

  8. Planting ginger? What a great idea, I am tempted; although we do not have a tropical climate here, I have a very protected garden with a microclimate...who knows, it might work!

  10. Absolutely beautiful! I'm also cleaning and tidying, washing and scrubbing... alternating with stints of quiet sewing and reading. Knowing that soon we will be covered in dirt and busy with new life out of doors brings a bit of urgency and a sense of purpose, doesn't it?

  11. Busy days here too getting ready for spring! The cheese rolls look lovely! One of my girlfriends planted ginger in a pot a few years back and it grew like crazy, very pretty too!

  12. There's nothing like getting into a made bed at the end of the day is there? (Even if it takes all day to do!!)
Loving all those pics...what a story you tell! We are busy planting seeds and tidying the gardens after a wet and humid summer here ready for the Autumn crops to go in!

    1. Oh, I will! This is actually my second (maybe third?) attempt. Before reading this article, I didn't realize it likes a sheltered spot, nor that it takes about a year before harvest. So, I think I sunned it to death and didn't wait long enough in the past! Hopefully I get better results this time :)

  15. Ah, lovely! Ducks are some of my all time favorite critters. I was taking their photos at a local park over the weekend and thinking I must have hundreds of duck photos...all the same I took a few more!

I want to grow ginger! I've never thought of it!

Sometimes the bed doesn't get made until the afternoon at our house too, but better late than never, right?! We just bought ourselves a new mattress (the first new one I've ever had!) and got a bed frame (a housewarming gift from my father). It is going to be so much easier to make the darn thing now that it is off the floor!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

  16. That is so funny...I laughed at your just-made-at-3 bed...I am just the same. I have been known to make the bed just before getting into it at night. I am trying to now make it as soon as we get OUT of it instead!
