Last week I taught myself how to knit, and you might say I've become a bit obsessed with it. It really is addictive. I've always been amazed at people who make beautiful things by hand, and I thought knitting was some elusive skill that would be difficult to learn. So, I've avoiding learning it, thinking it would take me many months to complete something. Not so! The trick is to start small and allow yourself the time to learn and make mistakes. I'm practicing the two basic "knit" and "purl" stitches, making small washcloths and feeling so much (nearly) instant gratification! If you too have been hesitant to learn, dive in.
